My problem started when I changed my Celeron 433 for a P3 800eb with 133fsb. First off my slot 1 adapter didn't support the coppermine P3 so I bought one which did. Now I have a problem booting my pc, it sometimes takes several attempts to boot successfully. It stops at various points during bootup, mostly right after the memory count. It always goes past the video bios screen so I assume the video card is not the problem. Sometimes it will start to boot then suddenly start again. Occasionally I get a message saying there was a problem processing the registry. It doesn't only happen when booting from cold, it sometimes occurs during reboots but not so often. I have swapped the ram, I have also flashed the bios as the coppermine wasn't supported in the old version and I have reset the bios to default settings. None of this has helped. According to FIC who make my mobo, they have not tested the P3 beyond 667 mhz but I am assured by the shop I bought it from and the mobo manual that it is ok. When it does boot it runs very nicely with no crashes (well no unusual ones anyway!).The device manager shows no problems with conflicts etc. Basic system details are KA6110 mobo (www.fica.com), P3 800eb on a generic slocket, 250 watt p/s, 512 meg pc133 ram, Win ME. Any help greatly appreciated.
